Q. Who is my counselor? How do I see my counselor?
A. Please see the “our counselors” section for your counselors name and email. To see your counselor, student appointments are made by completing the green appointment slip available in the counseling office. For parents, please call your child’s counselor directly to set up an appointment.
Q. What are the CHS counseling office hours?
A. Weekdays 7:45am - 4:00pm
Tuesdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Q. How do I register my child?
A. Please click HERE for a registration information sheet that will explain what documents you should bring for registration. Please be aware that there are several forms to complete at CHS for registration, so please allow time for that.
Q. How many credits do you need to get promoted to the next grade?
A. In order to be promoted to the next grade you must earn the following total credits:
10th grade: x5 Credits
11th grade: 10 credits
12th grade: 16 Credits
Q. How can I make up failed classes?
A. You can make up failed classes through night school, summer school, online courses, or in your schedule. Registration materials are available from your counselor. Some classes require prior approval; please do not start a class outside of school without meeting with your counselor first.
Q. If I am retained in a lower grade but make up the credits can I be moved up to my original homeroom?
A. A student cannot be promoted to their original grade in the middle of a school year (with the exception of seniors).
Q. When are SATs and ACTs offered? How do I sign up?
A. See the "Testing" section or visit www.collegedboard.com and www.act.org

Q. When is the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) given? How do I make one up?
A. If a student fails or misses any portion of the test, there are make-up dates throughout the year. A student has approximately 5 chances to take and pass all 5 sections of the test before their graduation date. Review materials for the GHSGT are available online at the Georgia Department of Education website at www.doe.k12.ga.us. Individual departments may also have review materials available, please contact them directly.
Q. How can I find out more about the HOPE Scholarship?
A. Visit www.gsfc.com or call 1-800-546-HOPE.
Q. What is my GPA on a 4.0 scale?
A. Fulton County calculates numeric on a 100plus pt. scale. Fulton County does not calculate GPA's.

Q. How do I find out summer school information?
A. Check the CHS website around spring break.
Q. Where can I get college applications?
A. Directly from the college/university, on the college's website, or through the CHS College and Career Center.
Q. What is the college applications process?
A. Click HERE to see the process. The college application process begins in early September each year, giving students ample time to request transcripts, counselor forms, and letters of recommendation from the counseling office. We ask for a minimum of 2 weeks notice, so please be aware of deadlines. For specific questions about the college application process, please see your counselor.
Q. When and where can I pick up a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form?
A. The paper copy of the FAFSA is available in the counseling office after January 1 of each year. However, the form can be completed quickly online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. For further information, please contact the FAFSA website, the financial aid office of the college or university you will be attending or the counseling office at CHS.
