GREEKHOOPS 2011 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The East Point/College Park Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce a $1000 scholarship to a deserving graduating male senior.  To qualify, you must:

 

p  Be a high school male senior eligible for graduation in 2011

p  Have at least a 2.5 GPA

p   Have community service involvement

 

If you qualify, you are encouraged to apply for this scholarship by completing the application, in its entirety, and mailing it to us with a postmark of no later than April 15, 2011. For application form:

Application Instructions

All Applicants MUST submit a completed application. The package must be postmarked by April 15, 2011.  The completed package must include the following:

1.      A completed application form

2.            Two (2) letters of recommendation: one must be from a teacher or advisor, and a second from a different teacher or advisor or from another adult familiar with your participation in school activities, community service, etc.  Each letter must include the name and contact information of the person composing the letter.  These letters cannot be written by a relative, and must be sealed with the person's signature on the seal.

3.            An official copy of transcript or a letter on school letterhead from your 12th grade guidance counselor stating your current Grade Point Average (GPA) for the year.  This letter must also be sealed with your counselor's signature on the seal.

4.       An essay, of 500 words or less, addressing two of the following five topics:

p      Describe your involvement in community service and how it has impacted your community.

p      Is your grade point average a true reflection of your ability?

p      How would you use this scholarship to help finance your education?

p      Do you have any unusual circumstances that have affected your performance in school?

p      Discuss your strengths and how they relate to your career goals?

FreeOnline ExPreSS:

Registration begins Monday, February 1, 2010.

FreeOnline ExPreSS (Exam Preparation for Science and Social Studies) will be offered by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) online to all high school students and certificate of attendance recipients who were unsuccessful on or who have not yet taken the Science and/or Social Studies GHSGT.

FreeOnline ExPreSS creates an online opportunity designed to help students prepare for the science and social studies GHSGT. Science and social studies are the two GHSGTs that Georgia students fail most often. It will offer self-paced units based on the instructional plans created for the summer ExPreSS Program.

Students can create their own registration account using their Georgia Testing Identifier (GTID) number. Detailed instructions for creating this account and locating their GTID number will be provided on the ExPreSS website at: https://www.georgiastandards.org/Resources/Pages/Tools/ExPreSS.aspx

 Chattahoochee High School Classes

 1. Weekend Classes - Tuition: $450

This course consists of 18 hours of classroom instruction and 3 practice exams.

This course is great for students who can study more on their own and don't need as much "face time" with a teacher. There is bit more homework and independent study involved with this class.

 2. After School Classes - Tuition: $550

This course consists of 24 hours of instruction and 3 practice exams.

- After school classes are offered all year from 4-7pm. 8, 3-hour sessions and 3 practice exams

- This course offers more time with the instructor. This is great for students who want more interaction with an instructor. There is a bit less homework involved.

1. PSAT Clinics - Tuition: $225

The PSAT clinic consists of a full-length practice PSAT and 6 hours of classroom time. 

You'll review concepts and learn proven test-taking techniques to improve your PSAT score.

- PSAT Clinics are offered on Mondays from 4-6pm and Tuesdays from 6-8pm

 

2. Zero Period and Weekend Classes - Tuition: $375

These courses consist of 18 hours of classroom instruction and 3 practice exams.

- Zero Period Classes are offered all year from 7:15am-8:15am. 18 class sessions and 3 practice exams
